Pit Fuh & Bee Gim: Engagement Session

Congratulation to my big brother-Pit Fuh, and sister-in-law-Bee Gim.

They were officially registered last week. Sorry I cannot be there for the ceremony, but I'm definitely will be back for the banquet. So, here's a little present for them. A set of photos I took on a family trip while I was back in Malaysia last summer.

Not a well planned photo session, though. As you can see from the photos, no make up, no shinning dress. But one thing I like about them, is both my brother and sister in law look so natural as who they are, in the outfit they feel most comfortable in.

Anyway, thanks again to agree to do the session with me, a brother so crazy about photography. And hopefully we can have another real session, would be great if I can give you a photo album as wedding present, built from scratch.

Yee Vun & Lay Poh Engagement Session

First, a big congratulation to Yee Vun & Lay Poh, they will be having their wedding ceremony at the end of this September, and enter a new journey of their life as husband and wife. And, again my gratitude to them for willing to be my models, although they already had their wedding photo album taken. Schedule is pretty tight, a day before I fly back to Japan and it had been raining for the whole week and another rainy day will ruin the whole plan. Fortunately, luck stands with me, although we were trapped in the middle of the shooting by sudden rain, it did not last long and we were able to have pretty great shot until the session ends.

Without makeup artist and fancy wedding dress, what I want to present is the couples with their most natural looks and attires. And personally I consider this as a plus to the traditional wedding photograph.

If you are a true Penang-kia, you definitely can recognize this shooting location. If not, then you should probably pay a visit there - Khoo Kongsi – Chinese clanhouse located in the middle of Penang’s heritage site.

Here is a series of the photos that I arrange and compile into a photo book like layout! Comments are most welcome to help me improve :)

Oops…the cover was shot in another location near Khoo Kongsi.

Let’s dive IN to their love story

Personal favorite!!

What I learned in this shooting

1) Be very familiar with the gear. I upgrade my gear recently and not totally familiar with it so I need to stop once and a while to reconfigure the setting which is not ideal in the shooting session.

2) Be funny!! I’m not doing well in this though. Must create a good communication with the couples and make them feel relax.

3) Be more creative in posing the couples and finding good angle to shoot!

4) I must calibrate my monitor!! Images appear to be different, a bit dark on other computer!

There’s still a long road for me to learn, and hopefully I can have more chance to shoot and polish up my skill.

CheeSiong & XueMin:Engagement Session@Kyoto

This is the second part of Chee Siong & Xue Min's engagement session photos.

Actually we did not plan this out, I was on the train heading to Kyoto for the maple leaves when I received the call from Xue Min asking if I can make it to Kyoto for a photo session that day. Guess what, we were heading to the same place. What a coincidence!!

It was cloudy that day, so shooting with limited sun light was quite challenging. Luckily, most of the shot turned out nice. And I like the sentimental feeling it added to the photos.

The maple leaves were so gorgeous!! That's the reason I like autumn the most out of four seasons.

I just like this shot! Both of them look so natural.

This is the aqueduct at 南禅寺(Nanzenji)~ a perfect location for photo shooting, but you have to be patient to wait for the right moment before pressing the shutter to avoid the crowdy tourist.

Again, try to play around with the sun light.

The smile looks so cute!

Finally, a shot with the Geisha.

CheeSiong & XueMin: Engagement Session@Park

First, I want to express my gratitude to both Chee Siong & Xue Min for letting me be their photographer. This was my first attempt on taking an engagement session photos. So it was a challenging and nice learning experience.
The location we choose is a newly built park next to my mansion. So basically, we were just having fun playing around!
Here is the shot we took that day. Hope you enjoy it!
